Foreign friends spend the Spring Festival in Jinjiang like this
Paper-cut, make dumplings and eat local snacks
How do foreigners spend the Spring Festival in Jinjiang? On February 15th (New Year's Eve) afternoon, our reporters came into the home of Frank who came from Denmark, to see how they used to the customs to celebrate Chinese Spring Festival.
In Frank's family, more than 10 friends from different countries were gathering together to celebrate the Spring Festival, and this is the first time for them to spend the Spring Festival together.
When entering into the room, Frank and his son Lucas wore in red coat which is full of Spring Festival flavor, his wife from Xi'an, China. was preparing dinner and wine, the window posted the red paper adorned with the festive atmosphere.
Frank said that he had been in China for 4 years, he founded their underwear company in Jinjiang with his wife and friends, and this is the fourth time he spent the Spring Festival in China.
Recalled the embarrassed conditions of the first Spring Festival in Shanghai, Frank said, at that time, he didn't know that day is the New Year's Eve until he found that all the shops in the street were closed.
After that, his wife gave him a detailed description of how the Chinese celebrated the traditional festival, he suddenly understood.
"Most of the time, I would like to follow the customs, this is very interesting, this is a kind of etiquette."Frank and reporters discussed the significance of the Spring Festival. He thought that it's very good to keep the traditional festivals, and the whole country was looking forward to the Spring Festival. Even such a big country can "relax"for a week to bring everyone together.
When it comes to the changes in Jinjiang, Frank gave it the thumbs- up. He said that in recent years, new roads, bridges and high- speed railways have been built in Jinjiang, which has brought great convenience to traffic. There are more shopping malls in Jinjiang. Compared with Denmark, he has to drive 100km to go shopping, in Jinjiang he only needs 10 minutes.
Nico, who is also from Denmark, has been working with Frank in Jinjiang for more than 3 years. He gave the reporters a vivid account about the experience of spending the Spring Festival in Jinjiang last year. At that time, he and friends tried to learn Chinese custom of the Spring Festival, putting coins in buns, who eat them will get the blessings. Nico said that he had been accustomed to the life in China. Compared with Denmark, he liked Chinese lifestyle better. Such a pace of life made him feel relaxed.
Michael, from Holland, is a football coach at a high school in Jinjiang. This was the second time for him to spend the Spring Festival. Michael said that he knew most Chinese friends would be with their families on that day. So last year, he returned to his home in Holland, and this year, accompanied by friends, he was happy to be able to stay to celebrate Chinese traditional festival.
When the reporter asked him about Jinjiang, Michael said excited, "I've been to Wudianshi and eat local food, and I like Chinese food very much." He thinks Jinjiang is a fast developing city.
Ross, from Britain, is now working in a Jinjiang shoemaking company and has been living in Jinjiang for 18 months. Ross said that he had been celebrating the Spring Festival with local friends in Huian. He was impressed by the fact that the local people would jump over the fire on the New Year's Eve, play fireworks and majong, and it made him feel particularly novel. By now, Ross has been living in Fujian for 7 years, and he loves it.
